President Biya and the selfie Lionesses

What’s happening here? Could this mean the king of the jungle has lost his mystical roar? After reading this article by Angelbert Nde, you’ll notice how weak Biya has become. Please read in between the lines and drop sound comments!

UPDATED VERSION!

SOUTHERN CAMEROONS, PEOPLES’ POWER IS CHIEF POWER !

Ok, I invite you to do some brainstorming with me. Let’s look together at this recent work of arts of the communication team of Mr. Biya.
But before, a little description is necessary.
This is the ceremony Mr. President had with the female football national team to celebrate their wrapping up as runners up in the just ended Women African Cup of Nations (AFWCON) tournament hosted by Biya. This ceremony was unfolding the same evening the military had been “ordered” to pain the streets of Bamenda red with the blood of protesters. And the contrasts offered by this pictures from the Unity Palace is more than striking.
The young female footballers are virtually rubbing themselves against the tyrant. They are too close to the lion. The lady on the right has got her chin nearly resting on the President’s right shoulder and – God ! No Cameroonian will believe her left hand is actually holding his left shoulder ! Then the selfies stream in and Mr. President smiles in approval. In fact, he looks like he really made up his mind to be happy for the night.
I want to remind Cameroonians that if you do not know Biya, know that even his PM books an audience to see him ! He contempt is a marvel even to other African Presidents who have gotten used to his boycott of the continent’s summits.
So what happened? How did this little lady succeed to go free after dancing in the mouth of a lion?
Ok, if you argue me, I will relate to you what happened some years ago still with a female footballer. Do you all remember the story of the lady who dared stretch out a hand to hand Mr. Biya an envelope during the later’s handshake of athletes to close the sports year? The military guards standing next to her “ate her raw”, right? The failed gesture stretched on for months as a matter of outright defiance of Presidential security that a citizen would mustard the courage to do that. So what exactly is happening in this picture? What changed here?

It is simple.

The power of the people that was snowballing swiftly in the English-speaking part of the country chiseled the claws.
My conclusion is that Biya is only as strong as we have decided to be weak. No man can win a fight against his people. If he is a lion, we should have been a country of 25 million lions in response. It is not Biya who is too strong and invincible; it is the people – whom we are – who have been too feeble and too disorganised and too uncoordinated.
This strike must not fall into the trap of failed attempts of the past.
We must resist until we see victory. We must get set for a long, difficult, self sacrificing and uncompromising strike action.
The indefinite strike continues!
Aluta continua!
