In a recent communiqué made public, the national team coach made mention of 7 players who have rejected his call to join the team in preparation for the upcoming AFCON to take place in Gabon from 14 January to the 5th of February. Their reasons are mostly personal.
Allan Nyom (West Bromwich), André Zambo Anguissa (Olympique Marseille), Ibrahim Amadou (Lille OSC) preferred to stay behind so as to keep their position as first choice players in their club.
Maxime Poundje (Bordeaux) chose to play for the French team.
André Onana (Ajax of Amsterdam) chose to remain to keep his position as first choice goalkeeper of the club. This is because Ajax has a good squad and nether land’s first choice goal keeper is part of the club.
Guy Roland Ndy Assembe (Nancy): His contract with the club is soon coming to an end, he prefers to stay with the club so as to preserve is place as first choose keep and to negotiate a new contract with the club.
As for Joël Matip (Liverpool), he does not want to play with the national team for the moment because of the bad experience he had with the technical bench.
FECAFOOT has decided to take actions against them according to FIFA’s laws.
As for the coach, he will bring up a squad that nation will be proud of.
