​Rigobert Song Speaks Out after Severe illness.

Former indomitable lion captain is out of danger and is currently following his reduction program in Paris. For about 3 months, song has been receiving treatment in La Pitié-Salpétrière hospital in France.

He granted an interview to the French base newspaper L’Equipe of 24th December where he recounts his difficult moments. According to what he said, he was watching TV when he had  stroke. luckily for him, he felt by his side and his tongue was already outside and his door was open. In his coma, he was able to see his family in the hospital come and go, crying. He faught before he was able to regain consciousness.


At the end, he said he is willing to help those  who are suffering from cerebrovascular because he has been through it. 

Rigobert Song is among the few who survived this illness with a sequela. Only Three of his toes are inactive.


«J’étais devant la télé à l’étage de ma maison à Yaoundé et j’ai ressenti un gros coup de fatigue, commence Song. J’avais laissé ma porte ouverte parce que quelqu’un devait venir. Si ma porte avait été fermée à clé, c’était terminé. Ma chance, c’est d’être tombé sur le côté, donc ma langue sortait. Ma tension était à 25 et tout a explosé dans ma tête. Dans le coma, c’était comme un rêve. J’ai vu ma famille partie qui me disait: “Tu fais quoi ici ? Tu dois rentrer.” J’ai commencé à me débattre. J’étais attaché mais j’ai tout arraché. J’avais une puissance incroyable. Quand le médecin me voit aujourd’hui, il me dit: “Monsieur Song, on a eu des cas mais vous êtes exceptionnel. Sur quarante cas, trente sont partis et les dix qui restent ont des séquelles. Vous êtes impressionnant.».
